in collaboration with the visual artist Nikos Kouroussis
Kasteliotissa Medieval & Cultural Hall,
9 June 2010
Duration: 1 hour
Artist's body, 3D metal installation in square shape, b&w pictures, needles, threads, transparent plexiglass square containers, audience members.
Description of action
This is an intervention based on Nikos Kouroussis's installation "The Protagonists", where the portraits of the politicians and other public figures who have negotiated the Cyprus problem, are printed on paper and are hanging on top. They are also printed as a carpet, which is part of the installation, placed on the floor. I sew the threads, which I have previously connected with the portraits, on my hands and feet. When my hands and feet are full with threads, I shake my whole body to set free and be detached from the images and simultaneously I place the paper portraits on the transparent plexiglass square containers. When my skin has no more threads on and is totally detached from the images, I walk away.
